What we assess at a fitting
Balance
Hem, waist, seat, sleeve and jacket length are read together so one correction does not create another problem.
Construction
Seam allowance, lining, canvassing, vents and previous alterations determine what is technically sensible.
Use
Work, ceremony, everyday wear and the shoes or layers worn with the garment all affect the right result.
From first pin to collection
At the first fitting we agree the intended result and confirm the work. Straightforward trouser or sleeve alterations may need one fitting; structural jacket work, formalwear and made-to-measure commissions can require more. We will tell you before work begins.
Pricing, turnaround and delicate work
Starting prices are guides, not blind quotes. Fabric condition, access to seams, hand finishing and earlier alterations can change the labour required. Vintage and sentimental garments are assessed conservatively: sometimes the best tailoring decision is to leave a vulnerable area untouched.
